Mavs Win the Finals!

When is a cough not just a cough?  When could something as harmless as the sound of a cough be manipulated into meaning more.  From two people in particular a cough from Dirk Nowitzki meant deceit, it meant fraud, it meant acting.  Two people in particular took it upon themselves to mock a sick and fever stricken Dirk Nowitzki.  They made a mockery of the NBA as well as NBA greats before them, and not to mention themselves as men.  Childish giggles after each other mocked Dirk with they’re own coughs, feeling that they had the NBA championship won already.  Lets joke around they say, the trophy is ours we now have time to poke fun at our opponent.  Meanwhile what was once a weak cough, gained intensity and evolved into a bark.  Not to amused by his opponents foolery, after hitting a game sealing jumpshot in this years NBA finals Dirk smiles as his tongue wags.  Showing the jokesters who truly gets the last laugh. Finally with a second still left on the clock, Dirk takes that right hand that he coughed in directly to the locker room.  No handshake, no acknowledgement, not even a wave goodbye to the immature miami heat “superstars”. They will never get to touch this germ infested hand. Who knows what bug Dirk caught to give him the sniffles, but after the Miami Heat lost to Dallas it looked as if Chris Bosh may be asking for some kleenex soon.

Taj Gibson sends a Message!

Music can be heard in a myriad and unimaginable amount of ways.  An annoying drip from your leaky kitchen faucet may be disturbing to you, but to another person an infectious rhythm to a catchy song. Even a honking horn can be used as a form of music as well as tapping semi-ful drinking glasses of water with a spoon.  That being said Sunday in game 1 of the NBA eastern conference finals Taj Gibson of the Chicago Bulls found a new instrument to play his most recent masterpiece. With almost 23,000 people in attendance not to mention the millions watching on television Taj Gibson slammed on the metal of the basketball rim with the artistry that even Metallica could appreciate.  The bang of a leather basketball hitting a metal rim makes a distinct sound.  A sound similar to a pile driver fiercely striking the flange of a steel H beam forcing it downward into the ground. The bang symbolizes accomplishment to the dunker(T.Gibson) and embarrassment to the dunkee(D.Wade).  If you were somewhat clueless and didn’t get the message by Taj’s monster dunk, or somehow missed the rattling backboard afterwards, a triumphant roar from the emphatic bull clearly told the story.  The message was clear, we will dominate you, we don’t fear you, so take your talents back to south beach. Chicago doesn’t need them.

The Left- GAS MASK

Have you heard of The Left? Probably not.  This is not a mainstream group that u listen to on your local radio station. This is exactly the reason why i don’t listen to the radio.  If you want the real... you gotta go get it yourself and stop waiting for them to feed it to you.  Don’t turn on the news tonight, instead turn on The Left’s latest called the Gas Mask.  The album is filled with warm soulful tracks layered with the cold hard reality of the current state of life.  This kinda has feel of hip hop at its roots... like this is what hip hop was intended to be. If you search for music with a message or a purpose... this is it...The Left-GAS MASK... go get it!

Lupe Fiasco- LASERS

After hearing the controversy surrounding the latest installment from Lupe Fiasco it actually forced me to go back and listen to every aspect of every song on the album. I hear Lupe is unhappy with the album or at the very least unhappy with the process and the creative control he had or lack thereof. I’ve heard of a perfectionist but this guy would have Martin Scorsese shaking his head. What is Lupe’s complaint? The album is incredible... lyrically he is very descriptive he touches on topics that most people at best, are hesitant to discuss.  This album has two things, it has all the components to be one of the most classic albums ever, yet it also has failure written all over it. That is why Lupe Fiasco is a record labels worst nightmare, he’s talented enough to be considered a great, but not commercial enough to make significant dollars. Lupe should make music that he is happy with because in the end his own happiness is all that matters.
